Setup guide
From camera to timeline.
A practical path from first connection to reliable continuous recording.
1. Prepare your camera
Enable RTSP or ONVIF in the camera’s settings and create a dedicated local user. Note the camera IP address, port, username, password, and stream path.
2. Add it to OmniNVR
Open Cameras, choose Add Camera, then use ONVIF discovery or enter the stream URL manually. Test the connection before saving.
3. Choose stream roles
Use a lower-bitrate sub-stream for continuous recording and the main stream for detailed event clips whenever your camera exposes both.
4. Enable recording
Open the camera’s NVR settings, enable recording, choose the destination, and set your retention days and storage budget.
5. Verify the timeline
Let the camera record for several minutes, then open Review. Confirm that segments appear, playback starts, and event markers align with detections.
Tip
Keep your camera on a stable wired or strong Wi-Fi connection. NVR reliability depends on uninterrupted access to the camera stream and storage destination.
